Air Lorraine now displays on its website daily high resolution air quality forecasting maps for the urban areas of Metz metropole and Grand Nancy, thanks to the operational system developed by NUMTECH: Urban Air®.
Urban Air® is the sole operational tool in the market that allows providing, to the decision-makers and the general public, forecasting maps for urban pollution, until D+2.
Urban Air® is based on the atmospheric dispersion software ADMS URBAN (CERC), tool internationally recognized and able to take into account all urban emission sources (traffic, industry, residential and tertiary sectors) as well as specific characteristics of pollutants dispersion in urban environment (canyon effect notably). The results provided by Urban Air® could be considered as reliable since expert users of the Air Lorraine of Nancy and Metz team have experienced for a long time the modellings before providing pollutants forecasting maps over both urban areas. About 43’000 calculation points for Nancy and 50’000 for Metz allow a high resolution restitution of the pollution levels to which the people of Lorraine might be exposed.
The purpose is to provide pollution forecasting at local level so that individuals should be able to adapt their travels or activities depending on their sensitivity, and thus, take the necessary useful precautions for the protection of their health.
