Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) & Environmental Communication

Our team of experts supports you by conducting customized LCA studies to assess, compare, and highlight the environmental impact of your products.

OUR EXPERTISE

Communicate credibly about the environmental performance of your products with LCA

Justifying the environmental impact of your products or services is now essential due to:

Whether to stand out commercially or guide your design choices, Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is the go-to tool.

Why use LCA?

Based on a scientific and standardized methodology (ISO 14040 / 14044), LCA assesses the environmental impacts of a product throughout its entire life cycle: from raw material extraction to end-of-life.

The environmental indicators measured by LCA reveal your product’s impact on climate change, ecosystem quality, human health, and resource consumption.

LCA provides a transparent, objective, and credible communication framework — a powerful defense against greenwashing.

FAQ Analyse de Cycle de Vie – questions fréquentes
All projects can benefit from eco-design—whether products, services, or events—by being redesigned to reduce their environmental impact. LCA also highlights dependencies on critical resources, helping to adapt to a context of growing scarcity.
LCA tools assess your product’s impact across more than 16 environmental indicators, including climate change contribution. It allows for calculating a carbon footprint, but also goes further—revealing impacts on ecosystems, human health, and resource depletion.
A simplified LCA uses a less detailed inventory and generic data to quickly identify 'hot spots', useful in eco-design.

A complete LCA, which takes more time, complies with ISO 14040/14044, includes a thorough and specific inventory, and offers greater scientific robustness. It is required for regulatory reports, environmental labeling, or strategic decisions.
The duration varies depending on the type of study (complete, simplified, comparative, with or without critical review), the system’s complexity, and the availability of client data.

For example, a full LCA for a standard product typically takes around two and a half months to complete, including modeling, results analysis, report production, and critical review.
NUMTECH uses two tools depending on the need: SimaPro and openLCA when full modeling is required.

In addition to open-source databases, NUMTECH uses the Ecoinvent database, which provides detailed data on over 20,000 industrial, agricultural, and energy processes, with numerous geographic variants.
